Seasonal Saftey Tips
Seasonal Safety Tips courtesy of Arbella Insurance Group!
It's easy for us to get too relaxed about safety. Here are some ideas to read and share with your family.
Keep your home and your family safe this summer by following these helpful tips.
-If you have a swimming pool, secure fencing (including base) with a locked entrance around the entire pool. Do not leave small children in or near a pool alone, even for a moment. An adult should be within arms length, providing "touch supervision" at all times.
-If you have a propane or barbecue grill, it should be placed well away from the home, deck railings, and out from under eaves overhanging branches. Keep children and pets away from the grill area.
-Do not use flammable liquids such as gasoline or kerosene, to kindle outdoor grills, fireplaces, fire pits or campfires.
CAR OWNER SAFETY
Going on a road trip this summer? Remember to:
-Charge your cell phone and bring a car charger with you
-Keep an emergency roadside kit in the trunk.
-Check your tire pressure (including the spare tire), oil, windshield wipers, windshield fluid, car battery and brakes.
HAVE A COLLEGE STUDENT RETURNING HOME THIS SUMMER?
-Make sure that your son or daughter is a listed operator on your insurance policy.
-To avoid unwanted attention to your home while you're away, be mindful about posting your vacation plans on social networking sites.
-Stop your mail with the click of a button. Go to usps.com/holdmail, enter your information, and your mail will be held for you at your local post office until you return home.
-Consider installing outdoor sensor lights and place timers on lights, televisions, radios to help prevent your home from becoming a target for burglars.
